Demolition and infrastructure works at a data centre complex
The new Data Centre complex in Petah Tikva covers an area of some 12,000 sq.m., including a two-storey structure built over two basement levels.
The underground works in the complex included demolition of a petrol station situated on the site and clearance of all the waste surrounding it, excavation of about 70,000 cu.m. over an area of 4.2 dunams (4,200 sq.m.) and to a depth of 16 m., erection of perimeter retaining walls at a depth of 30 m., placement of 753 anchors with a length of 21 m., and a water table lowering process for the excavation of Level -2 .
The central challenge in the course of the work was to deal with the clay or thick clay soil. Starting from a depth of 20 m. the soil turns into hard limestone or rock, necessitating the employment of innovative equipment and a highly qualified team to penetrate the tough layer.
