Infrastructure works in a complex urban area

The LYFE Towers complex comprises two 36 storey towers covering a 105,000 sq.m. area and includes office storeys, commercial areas and surface and underground car parks with 1,980 parking spaces.

Base Pile has carried out extensive excavation operations in the construction site area at a rate of around 2,000 sq.m. per day. The support and foundation works were performed with piles of various diameters in the range of 1.1 - 1.4 m. as well as slurry walls enabling the car park to be waterproofed and reduction of the volume of water that had to be pumped out for the construction works to proceed. Various elements were installed underground at a depth of up to 37 metres, as well as a water table lowering process being implemented.

To keep the excavation walls from caving in, Base Pile employed the Bentonite and dry techniques that offer an optimum solution for building foundations, especially in dense and challenging urban conditions such as those typifying the present project. The works were carried out on the site using the Company’s fleet of advanced digging cranes operated by professionals possessing high engineering skills capable of carrying out a comprehensive assessment of field conditions to ensure the highest quality, safety and efficiency standards.
